What to Review Before a Garage Door Installation Is Finished

The installation is easier to understand when the handover is planned before work starts. Ask the installer to explain the finished system, the controls provided and the records you should retain.

Compare the delivered product with the agreement

Check the visible style, glazing and finish against the final order. Ask for the installed model and dimensions in the paperwork. If the specification changed during the project, the completion documents should reflect what was actually installed rather than the first quotation.

Receive the operating demonstration

Have the responsible adult shown the normal controls and the manufacturer’s owner instructions. Ask how the system’s safety features were checked by the installer. Do not substitute an improvised household test or an online adjustment tutorial for the required product procedures.

Keep responsibilities visible

Confirm disposal of removed equipment, any outstanding work and the status of applicable project records. Store the manuals, warranty terms and invoice together. A future repair is easier to plan when it is clear which company supplied which part and what work was completed.

Your questions

Is a remote that opens the door proof that all installation checks passed?

No. The complete installation and required safety checks need to be addressed.

Should I accept verbal promises for work left unfinished?

Ask for the remaining items and responsible contact in writing.
