Compare mounting layouts against the real garage
Ceiling-mounted and wall-mounted models use different space and compatibility requirements. Do not order a shaft-mounted unit simply to remove an overhead rail before the door and track arrangement have been checked. The motor cannot compensate for a mechanically unsound door.
Keep power changes out of an assumed package

Specify the controls handed back to the owner
List remotes, vehicle buttons, keypads and any connected accounts. Ask which existing devices can be retained and how obsolete access will be handled. The final demonstration should cover normal operation and required safety functions as well as convenience features.
