Compare the left and right edges safely
If one corner has a large gap while the other sits tightly, report that difference without adjusting the opener or lifting hardware. A sloping floor, damaged section or uneven door position can affect the seal. The repair should address the cause rather than merely add material at the widest point.
Separate the retainer from its insert
The flexible weather seal and the channel holding it are different parts. Ask whether either is torn, crushed or missing and which item the price includes. A seal that does not fit the existing retainer is not a suitable substitute simply because its width looks close.
Consider the entrance beyond the door
For rain crossing the threshold, floor geometry and the route of exterior water may need separate work. If alterations are proposed, verify the requirements with North Miami's Building Department for the actual property. A seal service is not a guarantee against standing water or wind-driven rain.
Your questions
Can a seal hide an unsafe alignment problem?
It may conceal a gap without resolving the cause. An unevenly moving door should be assessed mechanically first.
Is a threshold strip always part of replacement?
No. Discuss whether one is appropriate and who controls the floor surface; it is a separate scope from replacing the door-mounted insert.
