Closing trouble has several possible causes
Tell us whether the door reverses immediately, stops near the floor or does not begin moving. Record any visible light pattern without removing covers or touching wires. A sensor fault and a mechanical obstruction can produce similar frustration, but require different work. Increasing closing force is not the solution to an unresolved fault.
Keep door and operator quotations distinct
An opener repair may leave the door itself unchanged. If a replacement door is also proposed, Surfside's changeout process concerns that separate scope. We identify which equipment stays, which controls are included and whether any additional electrical work needs coordination before the customer approves the combined project.
Your questions
Can the sensors be removed because the door keeps reversing?
No. Entrapment protection must remain functional. The system needs diagnosis and correct repair, not a workaround that removes its safety function.
Should I replace an old opener just because it lacks an app?
That is a feature choice, separate from whether it can be safely repaired. Compare the condition, supported controls, safety system and desired functions before deciding.
