Use the Village’s current submission route
El Portal publishes building forms and an electronic plan-review option, alongside its stated hard-copy process. For a replacement or broader project, confirm the accepted submission route before sending documents. A service company’s estimate is not itself a building approval.
Distinguish the door from the controls
A remote that fails and a door that tilts need different initial questions. Describe which controls respond and how the door last moved. If hardware is loose or the opening is unstable, stop use rather than trying another control method.
Keep previous work available
Earlier invoices or product documents can explain which components have changed. Share relevant equipment details without passwords or private access information. The final service recommendation should identify the finding, proposed remedy and any additional project that requires a separate decision.
Your questions
Can I send plans to any Village email address?
Use the current Building Department submission instructions instead of assuming ordinary email is accepted.
Does a garage door quote mean the Village approved the work?
No. A service proposal and any required municipal approval are different steps.
