Arrange the right person for the decision
If a caretaker or manager meets the technician, confirm how the owner will approve additional work. A photo of a damaged panel does not tell the whole condition of the track, reinforcement or lifting system. We explain related findings rather than assume that replacing the dented piece solves every movement problem.
Use records without confusing them with condition
The Village provides a public permit-status search, which can help retrieve a past door project. A record may assist identification, while current wear and damage still require inspection. If the repair becomes a replacement proposal, the new scope and its documentation should be agreed separately from the original service request.
Your questions
Can a bent door be opened once to let a car out?
Do not operate a visibly distorted or unsupported door. Keep clear of its path and explain the access problem when requesting service so safe options can be assessed.
Can you discuss the estimate with an owner who is off site?
Arrange an authorized on-site contact and a way to reach the decision-maker. The repair scope should be understood and accepted before work is added.
